New River Half Marathon

Well, I did it. I ran my first half marathon the other weekend. The weather was perfect, the course was beautiful and I finished under my set goal time.  However, I couldn't have done it without the support of Gary and Ollie. Having them there cheering me on was such a good motivator.

Grandfather Mountain Dollar Days

Every April Grandfather Mountain has dollar days for the local residents. It's kind of a celebration for the spring season and upcoming tourist season. We met up with some of our friends and took part in the junior ranger program that afternoon. 

We learned all about eagles, most importantly their eyes. 

Once the ranger explained to us all the interesting eagle facts, she took us to go see the eagle sanctuary.  She also took us on a tour of all the other animals that live in the Grandfather Mountain habitat. We got to see bears, otters, deer and a cougar.
