Banner Elk Preschool

The first week of preschool can only be described as bitter sweet, lots of emotions flying around last week. Ollie had some separation issues, but by the end of the week he was all about going to school. I'm pretty sure it was harder on me for him to start school than it was for him to get over the fact that mommy wasn't staying at school all day. We're excited about school and Ollie is doing great!  Oh and I miss that little guy to death while he's there and couldn't be more excited to go pick him up!

Day One

Day Two
Love this super cute outfit! Ready to roll Wednesday morning

I tried every morning to get a good picture with the backpack and all, but this is as good as I could get

Day Three...

Weekend Highlights

This weekend we cut down several trees in our front yard. We needed more light and some firewood. The Boedefields came over to help, so Gary had someone to help him with the trees and I had someone to help me entertain Ollie.
Before....

After...

The guys thought they'd cut a few more down since they were already out there cutting and all
Total of 5 trees blocking our driveway

Then there's the clean up

What Ollie and Wyatt were up to while all this was going on
Didn't last long until this happened
Silly boys :-)....now back to the trees

The clean up went well, they made a path for my car!

Then our little helper got in on the clean up

If you're wondering why Ollie's hair looks weird, he had just dunked his head into a big mud puddle in our driveway. He thought it was hilarious!

A big thanks to Wyatt's dad for helping Gary out! Our yard looks so much bigger and brighter now.

The Sandbox

Yeah sand!

Maybe a quick catnap

Quick headstand

Now doubt about it, I think this kiddo is definitely into sand.

Endless Summer

The weather here this last week has been so beautiful, it kind of reminds me of the beginning of an Indian summer. The leaves are just barely starting to change and fall, the days seem to be filled with mild mountain breezes and the nights are a perfect kind of cool. I really hope we have a long Indian summer this year, more opportunities for outside play!

Fun at the climbing wall in Blowing Rock Park

Peek a boo

Wyatt getting in on the fun

Next it was onto the sandbox

Jumping into the sand with Rhett

Wyatt did completely cut in front of Ollie, but it was all good, they made up

Nothing like a best friends handshake to smooth things over

Post Dinner

Most nights after dinner we like to play outside a little before bath and bedtime. Ollie usually plays car tunnel or lays on the deck and pushes his cars around.

Another after dinner favorite is to push his wagon up to our neighbors house, the Upton's.
He loves to mess "play" with everything on their deck

Rearranging their outdoor lights into their flower pots

Rocking on their rocker bench

Thank you Dan and Anne Upton for letting Ollie use your house/yard as his own personal playground.

Construction Update

Still plugging away on our project. Rain and little back injury put a minor damper on this weekends progress. Together Gary and I managed to keep things going for the most part.

Got all the tongue and groove up in Ollie's room

Even got a few coats of paint on it

Painting the T&G for downstairs ceiling

Almost halfway done with downstairs ceiling

Looking good!
